I'm sure it's not a surprise that one of the items on Paul's bucket list was to go to Costa Rica. We've heard great things about this tropical paradise & the many activities available on this little piece of Central America. It did NOT disappoint!
We stayed in Guanacaste at the Condovac La Costa Resort. It was a short walk to a beautiful beach. We walked on the beaches & played in the warm water...
Our view from our hotel restaurant was easy on the eyes, too!
The infinity pool has the same breath taking view, making for some incredible sunsets!
We took several drives & hikes to experience the beauty; Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Celeste River Hike, & the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve Skywalk/Zipline to name a few...Costa Rica is a very wet climate & we definitely got wet everyday!
Our guide stopped dead in his tracks to make sure we understood the difference between rainforest vines & the green vine snake which is poisonous! The vine across this walkway is NOT a vine...& that viney-looking snake moved super fast!
The Celeste River typically has turquoise water because of the minerals in it from the nearby volcano. Unfortunately, the rain stirred up the sediment & we didn't get the vivid blue that the Rio Celeste is famous for...we were able to see that strange phenomenon where a tributary flowing into the river appears to keep separated & doesn't mix as shown below (Like where the Amazon meets the ocean it creates that clear boundary & doesn't mix).
The Monteverde Skywalk was one of my favorites! We took a drive way up into the rainforest & this view was amazing!
On our hike to our ziplining excursion, we walked through a hummingbird sanctuary. They will literally rest on your finger if you touch one of the many feeders they have along the way! I got the biggest kick out of that...it tickles! Hummingbirds were everywhere!
We hiked to the suspension bridges high above the canopy...
Looking over the top of the trees & the trees down below...they look like bushes from this height!
Suiting up & ready to zip - several lines - one line was a kilometer long!
With the rain there were tons of waterfalls - not even sure they were all named!
There are a lot of monkeys in Costa Rica, too...
Costa Rica has tons of raftable rivers. We decided to try the Tonorio River...it was wet & wild!
It was a great trip & super fun to experience this adventure with Paul.
