It rained...

...A LOT!!! The river rose super high, almost to our back lawn. We expected any debris coming down the river at these levels might take out our fence so we removed the last few panels to minimize the damages. We got lucky - the river barely made it to the last section of fencing!

The rain pounded my daffodils...

So much rain made everything so green! It created a waterfall on Mt Murphy & made our dirt parking lot look like a meadow!

So much water, the ground couldn't absorb it fast enough! It created a lake on our property line! The ducks seemed to enjoy it!

"The rain comes in great galloping gulps,
faster than the soil can sop it up.
It drums on the roof, dances in the yard,
celebrates all the way down the hill."

"Do not fear...the rain is only here to help you grow."

He loves me...

When we got back from Memphis, Paul needed to go into work but I stayed home to get caught up on some things...like sleep! He left early on Valentine's Day & I slept in. When I woke up & started milling about I began to notice all these sticky notes all over the house in the most random places! You can guess by his "punny humor" where some of these were stuck. It made me smile & I wanted to remember this simple gesture of love...

 I love him!

Memphis in February

We were very delinquent in taking Ty & Christi on their "Wedding Weekend" since they were married in 2010! We finally found a time that would work for them & they chose to go to Memphis so Ty could show Christi where he was born & take in the sights & sounds...it's a bonus that family lives here, too!

We started our adventure at the Memphis Zoo. It is one of the best I've ever been to & we used to go often when the Carter Critters were little...of course Ty was too young to remember & it has changed in 30 years so it was like seeing it for the first time! Naturally, I was more interested in taking pix of the kids than I was of taking pix of the animals!

The next morning Ty wanted to do some touristy things so we went to the Peabody to see the Parade of Ducks, Beale Street, WC Handy Park, & the River Walk along the Mississippi. Trey seemed to like the windy riverfront before we stopped for lunch at the Flying Fish.

Grandaddy Carter worked for MLG&W for years & this made me think of him.

We spent Sunday at church & with family. It was fun to see the 3rd generation of Carter Critters together & share stories of Ty growing up...

Before we took headed to the airport, we wanted to re-visit the Peabody. We got there early enough for Trey & Fin to get a front row seat & the ducks went by sooooo fast! They also got a special treat from the Duck Master. We ate lunch at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken & drove by Graceland before saying goodbye to Memphis.

Walking in Memphis brought back many memories for me. Even though Ty doesn't remember much about it, I was happy to share those memories with him & his sweet family.
