End of Spring randomness...

A lot goes on around here...All. The. Time! The last few weeks of Spring was no exception...

After Mother's Day, I felt like I needed to go see my mom's friend, Opal - who recently celebrated her 102nd birthday! She is still mentally sharp as a tack, but she is tired.  She always says things like, "I don't know why I'm still here!"  She has said "goodbye" to many friends & most recently her younger brother.  But she is lively & funny & I think she's still here because she is such a bright spot for all of us who know her - the world still needs her goodness!  She got a kick out of my "selfie stick"...

I Love to See the Temple & often get to go inside & worship & feel a refuge from the storms of life. The bishopric (minus the 2nd counselor & his wife who had to go out of town last minute) attended a session together then went out to dinner one evening.  Such a great group of people!

Then we got to go with this sweet sister (our tall friend, Jessica, in the middle) as she went through for the first time...always such a great feeling to be there & show our love & support!

Our Ward BBQ was another huge success! I didn't take too many pictures this time around, but great friends, food, & fun!  We finally hung the new swing the kids got us for Christmas & it was a big hit, too!

Classical Conversations - The Little Middletons held one of their end of year events at our house with lunch & a great display showing off their American Heritage Dioramas - they were very impressive!

Trevor's 8th Grade Promotion...that's right - he's on his way to high school!

Youth Activities...since I'm serving in Young Women & the Bishop likes to attend our youth activities, we get to be involved in some crazy stuff from time to time - like this silly game of life size Hungry Hungry Hippos! Balloons, laundry baskets, four wheeled dollies tied to rope is a recipe for a lot of fun! Which team captured the most balloons?  Then which team captured the most of their assigned color?  It's harder than it looks!

2nd Annual Bishop's Bash & Splash - Paul thinks it is important to get to know the youth & the primary age kids in our ward.  He wants them to know that he cares about them.  One way he shows this is by playing with them.  He came up with the idea of having a "playdate" with the Bishop last year & it turned into a "backyard bash & splash"...it was a hit & he wanted to do it again this year.  The kids absolutely LOVE it & they love having fun with their Bishop!

He fed them lunch first.  He cooked hamburgers & dogs for all the primary kids & their friends...

Slip n Slide relay...slide to the end, run back & tag the next team member...

Sponge relay...soak the sponge in one bucket, run to the other end & squeeze the sponge empty into the other bucket, then run back & hand it to the next team mate...

Bashing the Bishop with water balloons was, by far, the most popular event of the day!

The kids were given carnival tickets for each game they participated in & redeemed them for prizes at the end...bean bag toss, ladder ball, hoola hoop, croquette...kids really love prizes!

Sister Jones shared her sno-cone machine with us! Such a fun treat!

And we finished the afternoon with the waterslides...

I'm not sure who had more fun - the kids or their bishop?

And just like that...it was Summer!

Springtime in the PNW...

Springtime in the Pacific North West is usually rainy, but it always seems to have perfect weather every time I come to visit!  We wanted to visit Jill & family & luckily found a great deal on flights to SeaTac! I flew in a little earlier than Paul so I could attend a Relief Society activity with Jill.  She shared ideas on "Preserving Family & Personal History." She did a great job on her presentation & it was fun to see what others had to share, too!

While the girls were in school, we went to visit the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim.  Such a fun place where the animals get up close & personal!

These two were the cutest "critters" in the park!

This bear was really happy to see us. He knew we had food to share & he was really putting on a show so we would feed him! He wasn't disappointed & neither were we!

The next day the girls played hooky from school & we took the ferry into Seattle to visit the Pacific Science Center.  What a great place to explore!

The Butterfly exhibit is one of my favorites & they seemed to really liked Penelope!

Of course, it's always fun to go to Pike's - especially if you're looking for lunch!  I finally made it over to see the infamously disgusting "gum wall" - YUCK!  Such a strange collection...& we added to it!

We got to enjoy one of Roman's Tball games & lots of hugs from our favorite Holyoaks!

Thanks for letting us come & play!  You live in a beautiful place & we love to come visit!
