Farewell Blaine

While we were on our cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, we got some sad news that our dear friend & rafting mentor, Blaine Le Cheminant, had passed away.

Paul first met Blaine in the Spring of 1985. Blaine made a huge impact on Paul & our family by teaching him the ins & outs of rafting. He was our go to person for outfitting our gear & equipment & would call Paul whenever anyone needed a boatmen for various trips; including 6 Grand Canyon trips. Blaine was responsible for Paul's involvement with the Sierra Club excursions, too, where he took many backpacking/rafting trips from Alaska to Southern Utah. We are forever grateful to Blaine for his friendship & wilderness expertise....especially passing along his love for the Grand Canyon to our family.

1993 - Our first family trip down the Grand Canyon...

1993 - Blaine teaching the boatman what to look for when they scout a rapid...

2011 - Blaine is educating a 2nd generation of boatman on our 2nd family trip...

2011 - Our last family trip, Blaine's 30th Grand Canyon trip. He took one more the following summer with his sons & grandchildren...
