Remembering Aunt Laura

Sometimes, sad things happen...

We were sad to say goodbye to Paul's baby sister, Laura.

She passed away Aug 18, 2011.

The following thoughts are taken from Laura's personal history & from Paul's letter to our children as he remembered his baby sister...

My baby sister Laura was once the delight of the family, a very cute and bubbly little girl that was such a blessing to our family. She came along 5 years after Karen and finished our family with her happy go lucky personality.

(Speaking to our children, Paul says:) Some of you older siblings remember her better, and the times she would spend as a playful, fun loving aunt with slumber parties and gifts and fun things to do with Aunt Laura. Surely the sheer number of nieces and nephews that eventually came along and both time and resources no doubt kept her from doing all she did at one time.

Laura was extremely bright & received her undergraduate degree from San Jose State University & went on to receive her Masters in Management from Notre Dame de Namur University. She was an expert contractor in SAP Systems (an accounting & financial computer system used by major corporations worldwide). As a consultant/contractor, this high stress responsibility would put her in charge of implementing these systems all over the world getting them up & running without problems. She was on assignment for long periods of time in London, Munich, Tokyo, Hong Kong, San Francisco, & Portland to name a few.

Eric was the love of her life and the most wonderful husband anyone could imagine. His loyalty, protection, and respect for her to the end was an example of the kind of relationship we could all strive towards. She held firm to Eric as the one strong pillar in her grasp.

New adventures were exciting to Laura. She went white-water rafting many times, hang-gliding, skydiving, & even learned to scuba-dive. She & Eric loved to travel & had many wonderful adventures around the world.

We will miss you, Laura. God be with you till we meet again..."For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity." William Penn

"We can’t fully appreciate joyful reunions later without tearful separations now. The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life." Elder Russell M Nelson

Wow - now that was a true memory filled tear-jerker!!
Thanks for starting my day with happy memories, thoughts of someone I love, and lots of smiles at the pictures you chose. (I'm glad I scanned those and sent them to mom - sounds like they're going to come in handy to a few of us). Paul, thanks for words you wrote. Very inspired both of you in the way you word things. P.S. I told mom and dad to go on your blog (if they know how to do blogs)

Mom told me to check out your blog. I would have got here soon (Darren just left for basic training) but glad she got me here sooner.
Very beautiful tribute to our sweet sister. I hope she can read blogs in heaven.
