Paul wanted to get to know the Primary kids better & create some fun memories with them so that they would know that the Bishop is their friend. He decided he wanted to have a "play date with the Bishop" & invite all the Primary Children over for some fun & get to know the Bishop without his suit & tie on. He didn't want to add any work to the Primary Leaders other than he wanted them to come & play with the kids, too. So we hosted a "Bishop's Backyard Bash 'n Splash!" We basically played many of the games that we've played with our own grandchildren...

SACK RACES...
DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE, DRENCH (variation of Duck, Duck, Goose)...
SPONGE RELAY RACE - Two teams race to see who can soak a sponge on one end, run & squeeze the water out & fill the bucket on the other end...
And the winners get...
...SOAKED!
WATER SLIDES...we also had a kiddie pool set up & a Slip 'n Slide...there were A LOT of KIDS!
LUNCH - The Bishop cooked hot dogs & hamburgers for everyone...
MARSHMALLOW GUNS - we took some of the older kids out front (so the littles could enjoy the water slides with out all the big boys) & let them make marshmallow shooters. After seeing who could shoot the farthest & the most accurate...of course they had to "get the Bishop!"
WATER BALLOON TOSS - quickly became a game of "get the Bishop" as well. Here he is trying to use a child to protect himself...it didn't work.
OTTER POPS...
The play date was a success! All but two of our Primary children came & some even brought friends! Everyone had a great time & the kids learned that their Bishop cares about them & they can have fun with the Bishop, too!
