Sharing Kauai

Terri & Ben both turned 30 & they wanted to celebrate in Hawaii so we said they could use our timeshare in Kauai. Then they invited us to go with them...sure! We were thrilled to be invited & Kauai is our favorite so naturally, we love to share it with those we love! After a delayed flight for Terri & Ben, we didn't waste any time...


Day 1 - Kayaking the Wailua River to Fern Grotto & a short hike up to Secret Falls...

Day 2 - Ben wanted to snorkel so we took them over to Beach House Beach near Spouting Horn to enjoy a little sand & surf & exploring. Terri did NOT enjoy the swinging bridge in the little town of Hanapepe....

Day 3 - We took a catamaran down the Na'Pali Coast which is one of the best ways to see this magnificent coastline! We were worried about the weather, but it ended up being a beautiful day. The ocean is Paul's happy place. He & Ben got to swim with some turtles & dolphins & they saw a ray - so fun for them. They took us into a cave like opening & asked for volunteers to stand on the front & let them "dip" us into the waterfall - my hand shot up & they chose us for the honors...

Day 4 - We drove up Waimea Canyon looking for a hike to take but it started raining & it was bitter cold so we just settled for a few scenic lookouts. We ended up at Wai'ale'ale Point (the wettest point on the island). Later that evening we found a luau to attend instead...

 Day 5 - Hanakapiai Falls Trail is one of our favorites! It begins across the parking lot from Ke'e Beach & basically follows the Kalalau Trail with great views of the Na'Pali Coast until you come to Hanakapiai Beach & turn up the stream to the falls. It's a challenging 1/2 day hike but the reward at the end is amazing...

Terri's beautiful smile faded near the end. Hiking is NOT her favorite, but she knows her husband LOVES it so she wanted to experience it with him. The effort is definitely worth it when you get to the refreshing thunderous falls & can jump in for a quick swim to cool off!

We ended the evening with a little celebration at Duke's. Celebrating Ben & Terri's 30th birthdays & our 24th anniversary!
