"No, no, no, no...it's Angkor Wat! It's in Cambodia! We should go there!" Mikey said as we were planning our 30 day long cruise from Vietnam to China way back in 2007. (pre-blog) We dismissed his suggestion without a second thought. We were already extending at the end in Beijing & extending on the front end to Cambodia would make the trip WAY TOO LONG!
And THEN.....we learned what we were missing & kicked ourselves for years! It became a joke. Anytime we weren't sure about anything after that, someone would say "Angkor Wat!" And we would all agree that we didn't want to miss out again! No one should miss such an opportunity to see such a fabulous place!
So we planned a "return" trip to Asia to take in the sights of Cambodia & Angkor Wat.
First stop, CHURCH! This little taxi had a general idea of where to go but it was quite an adventure when he missed it & turned around heading straight into on coming traffic! YIKES! It's so fun to see our world wide church in action! It was Fast & Testimony meeting & the spirit really does speak in all languages! All the deacons passing the sacrament wore white shirts & ties but most were bare footed & wore an eclectic combination of pants & shorts. They were so reverent & sincere...it really touched my heart.
We had a great time visiting the beautiful temple ruins of Angkor Cambodia...
Beng Mealea...
Koh Ker...
Angkor Thom...
Ta Prom (where Tomb Raider was filmed)...
And the crowning jewel, Angkor Wat...
Chong Kneas floating village...
